Typical Day at PJO Jazz Jump Start
8:30am - 12:30pm
8:30 - Camp begins (Warm-ups) Small Group Sectionals
9:30 - Break #1
9:45 - History/Guest Clinician
10:45 - Break #2
11:00 - Large Group Rehearsals & Sectionals
12:30 - Camp ends
The Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra will be hosting their 18th year of educational jazz camps and workshops. Throughout the past several years, we have received many requests for programs geared towards younger musicians as an introduction to playing jazz. Seven years ago we decided to launch "PJO Jazz Jump Start" for students entering grades 4-7. We were extremely excited with the experience provided and are looking forward to offering this program again this summer!
This program is geared towards the education of instrumental students entering grades 4 through 7 regardless of their ability level. PJO Jazz Jump Start Week consist of large ensemble instruction, small group lessons, theory, and jazz history. PJO Jazz Jump Start is about learning and having fun. Tuition for PJO Jazz Jump Start is only $450 for one week or $750 for both weeks. PJO Jazz Jump Start Weeks are entirely independent of each other and students will learn different music each week.
